For many years I tried to figure out what the best way was to grow my business. I tried many things, including working long hours and stressing myself. I read countless business books, looking for new information non-stop, certain the secret to success was right around the corner. But although my business grew as a result of the hard work I was putting in, I felt like something was missing. I knew there had to be a better way.  That I could accomplish the same results, maybe even better results, without the sleepless nights and without working on weekends. I just didn’t know how to do it.

Then, two years ago, I stumbled on an interesting idea—or rather, my wife introduced me to it. It took me a while to grasp its full depth, but once I did, it changed my life and my business.
That life-changing idea, known as the “Three Principles,” was first articulated in 1973 by Sydney Banks. It shares an understanding of three vital principles that operate in all our lives: Mind, Consciousness and Thought.  Through harnessing these three principles, we can free ourselves from harmful preconceptions, improving our personal and professional lives beyond what we ever dreamed might be possible.
Here are a few of Sydney Banks’s own explanations as to how these principles act on our reality.

 Principle #1: Mind
“The Divine Mind is the Universal Mind, which is the intelligence of literally all things in this world or any other world. That’s the Mind you should be looking for. That’s the Mind that has the power to guide you through life, and if you can see that, life becomes simple and you’ll find your happiness. Cause happiness is inside, honestly…it’s inside.”

 Principle #2: Consciousness
“Consciousness gives us the ability to realize the existence of life. Consciousness has infinite amount of levels; you will never come to the end of Consciousness. It is literally impossible, because Consciousness is infinite-there is no end…Happiness lies within the consciousness of every human. That’s why the great mystics of the world tell you to look within, because what you seek is inside.”

 Principle #3: Thought
“You’re only one thought away from happiness, you’re only one thought away from sadness. The secret lies in Thought. It’s the missing link that everybody in this world is looking for… We were given the freedom to walk through life and see what we want to see. How much better than that can you get? You have the freedom to walk through life and see as a free thinker.”

What I’ve discovered through studying these three principles and the writing of Sydney Banks is that the hardest thing about growing a business is not, as I used to believe, cash flow or putting in long hours. It is about our thoughts, and how we can use them to create a different reality, a reality that offers ideal conditions for us and our business to succeed.
If you still believe growing a business has to be hard, you’re only one thought away from changing that—and from liberating yourself to experience true success. It worked for me and it can work for you.
