A Legal Information Package to Protect Our Religious Rights

Our increasingly autocratic President has announced that new Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines will classify religious institutions to be “essential services.” This is a dangerous red herring. The original edicts that closed our institutions were unconstitutional; the latest classification has no legal precedent or force of law, and could be changed on a presidential whim.
This changes nothing. Our rights are still being endangered.
We must fight back against the attempts of the President to degrade the rule of law, as well as reactionary state governors who, in their battle with the President, are also threatening to trample on the religious rights granted us by the Constitution.
I have researched and assembled a package of information that, in case your religious institution be ordered to close or remain closed, can be presented to officials to demonstrate that their demand is both unconstitutional and illegal.
Such orders are likely, since many state governors say the President’s order is unenforceable because of the Constitution’s guarantee of States Rights. This means they may attempt to close our religious institutions again if a predicted resurgence of the pandemic occurs.
I have created this information to support our religious rights, so of course there is no fee or obligation. To receive a copy, please email me at edsmith@edslaw.com or call me at (973)365-2770.
Once you have received it, please review it carefully to understand how it is to be used to protect your institution, then make copies to have ready to present to authorities.
Should your institution be ordered to close or to compromise your religious services and traditions, please feel free to call me for guidance.
