I had the pleasure of moderating the Direct Investments in Real Estate and Private Equity panel at NYSSCPA’s (New York State Society of CPAs) Fifth Annual Family Office Conference.
Over the past year, I have attended several panels on this topic and this conference was uniquely invigorating for several reasons. Susan Schoenfeld, who organizes the conference every year, did an outstanding job — as usual — assembling the most thoughtful industry voices and picking the family office trends that are front of mind this year.
The most insightful panels are usually those in which presenters are carefully selected based on their thoughtfulness and insights, and this panel was no exception. I was honored to share the platform with T5 Equity Partners’ Ira Perlmuter, GCP Capital’s Frank Pottow, and Herrick Feinstein’s Belinda Schwartz. Each of the presenters is highly experienced family office veteran who has seen and worked through nearly every potential variation of a family office direct investment.
This is my favorite kind of panel discussion. It was a pleasure to moderate a discussion with these engaging professionals, and I enjoyed hearing Ira, Frank, and Belinda share their experiences with direct investments.
